Well, welcome to this space. I’m sure you’re here because you’re interested who I am, the little fingers bashing away at the keyboard, and what Wayfare is. First off, thanks a bunch! You’re so awesome I could whip up a delicious batch of tea and scones just for you.
Now, where should I start? My name, Chalsie, pronounced like Chelsea, and no, unfortunately my parents were not hippies – sigh. I’m probably much more of a hippy than them, I guess you could blame the spelling of my name for that. And when I say hippy, I don’t mean I shower once a week, my hair is dreadlocked, and I don’t shave my legs... no no, I secretly crave the rural life.
I’m a self-confessed media addict, so naturally, I spent three years completing a media and communications degree. Which I really only completed because of the awesome friends I made. But it got me to where I am now, so I ain’t complaining. Y’see, I love analysing films and literature, which is what I naively assumed working in media was all about – thanks high school. It was a sad day when I became aware otherwise. Now I work in social media, which yes, means I manage facebook, instagram and pinterest accounts... this may sound like the best job in the world, but I’m telling you now, there’s much more to it than that!
What I really want to do, is write. As cliched as it sounds, I’ve wanted to be a writer since I can remember. As a kid, I would write story after story, and never run out of ideas. As it happens, that youthful creative energy doesn’t thrive in my adult body as it used to, but I make do with what I’ve got. I also thoroughly enjoy taking photos, which I’m kind of new to.
I guess the reason for Wayfare is to encourage myself to continue to write and be creative, but most of all focus on the things I love. We only live one life, and we may as well enjoy it, #amiright!
I hope you like what I have to offer, and if you don’t, well that’s really a shame, the kettle just boiled.
